I am trying to lower the toxins that we use in our everyday life and one way is by replacing commercially-made cleaning products with DIY alternatives that I can make myself using my doTERRA Essential Oils.

As I work from home and have two dogs, I am always washing my hands - so I thought making a handwash was a was a good place to start on my Low-Tox journey. And it will also a good way to reduce our use of single-use plastic bottles, as the Foaming Pump Bottle is re-useable, the Liquid Castile Soap comes in a 1 litre bottle which should last (almost!) forever.

I follow a page on Facebook called The Inspired Little Pot and I saw a post for Foaming Hand Wash, so I saved it and thought I would try making some. I searched on Amazon for Liquid Castile Soap and Foaming Pump Bottle, luckily enough both were available on Amazon Prime and so they arrived the next day.

I followed the recipe from The Inspired Little Pot which you can find here and I decided that I wanted my foaming soap to have a clean and fresh smell so I choose Lime and Grapefruit essential oils. I'm really happy with the results, the foaming soap smells delicious, my hands feel really clean without feeling like the natural oils have been stripped from my hands, they actually feel really soft and they smell faintly (but not over-poweringly) of Grapefruit and Lime.

I also think it's really cost effective: the first bottle of soap cost me: Pump Bottle £2.50, Liquid Soap £0.62, Grapefruit Oil £0.53* & Lime Oil £0.48*, so a total of £4.13. To refill with the same oils and reusing the pump bottle will cost £1.63 per refill.

* This is the cost of the oils when purchased with a doTERRA wholesale account.
